Mélanie Wenger

L'aventurière du Grand froid

The Yves Rocher Foundation has commissioned the talented photographer Mélanie Wenger to board the Marion Dufresne as it heads to the French Southern and Antarctic Lands.

An inspiring woman called to the sea

The Yves Rocher Foundation didn’t have to think twice before entrusting the Southern Lands photography mission to Mélanie Wenger. This French documentary photographer and co-founder of the Inland Collective has previously worked with the prestigious National Geographic magazine. She has been examining the curious world of wildlife and conservation since 2014. After working on ivory trafficking and elephant and rhino poaching in several African countries, she told the multi-faceted story of the hunting industry. Her “Sugar Moon” series saw her named the Lens Culture Emerging Talent 2018 and was exhibited at Visa pour l’Image 2021.

She was awarded the HSBC Photography Prize in 2017, and the first book dedicated to her work, “Marie-Claude”, was published by Editions Actes Sud. More recently, she was one of 200 French photographers selected as part of the Ministry of Culture’s photography commission led by the BNF.
