LA GACILLY,
LAND OF ORIGIN
It is here, at the heart of Brittany, that our adventure began. Here Yves Rocher transmitted his passion for nature to his son Jacques and together they created the Yves Rocher Foundation. First arboretum, first tree planted, biodiversity observatory… We are deeply attached to these Gacilian lands on which we push our commitment even further and seek to invent new ways of preserving nature with our local partners.
Cradle of our actions
It was in La Gacilly, 30 years ago, that we created the first arboretum with the children of the region. It is therefore here that we planted our very first tree but also our 100,000th in 2021. What an adventure, what a long way! Planting trees every year in Brittany is a great experience that has taught us a lot. Today, we want to sustainably register our actions and our experiments on the lands of Gacilienne, in co-creation with our local partners.

de la biodiversité
Wetlands, where 100% of amphibians and 40% of animal species live, are on the verge of disappearing. By creating the Biodiversity Observatory on an area of 8 hectares, we are preserving a formidable ecosystem. Butterflies, dragonflies, frogs, water mints... You can discover more than 300 animal and plant species there, as well as a monumental sculpture, the Dolomède, created by Régis and Sophie, two Breton artists, nature lovers.
Nature en fête
After two very successful first editions in 1993 and 1994, the Nature en Fête festival, free and open to all, is making a comeback at La Gacilly with a strong desire: to share a great nature experience with all participants. On the program: workshops, walks, conferences, film screenings to amaze and learn. The October 2021 and May 2022 editions were a great success. Relive them by clicking on the button below!

A family story
It all started in the small village of La Gacilly. Mr. Yves Rocher, whose playground is the moors and the forest of Brocéliande, was inspired by them to create his first plant-based beauty products. Very early on, he realizes that nature is a marvel that is crucial to preserve. A visionary commitment that he shares with his son Jacques. Together, they created the Yves Rocher Foundation in 1991. For 30 years, the Foundation has acted in the 4 corners of the world but also locally, with the Gacilienne community and with local partners. A collective approach and local roots that we are keen to deploy in all our field actions.
