Why is planting hedgerows so important?
Did you know? Since 1950, France has lost 70% of its hedgerows, and each year, 23,500 km more disappear. This massive loss is largely the result of agricultural land consolidation efforts from 1955 to 1975, which aimed to boost yields and ease mechanisation. Sadly, these measures also led to widespread hedgerow destruction — despite their crucial ecological role.
And yet, hedgerows are vital to biodiversity — providing shelter, food, and safe passageways for many species. That’s why we continue to plant field trees tirelessly, in partnership with Réseau Haies France (formerly AFAC-Agroforesteries).
Planting hedgerows today means healing past mistakes and building a more sustainable future.

Let’s get planting — it’s energising!
