Green corridors and islands as havens of biodiversity
In the Minas Gerais state, the Instituto Terra is tasked with environmental management, research, education and sustainable development projects. The Instituto has created a reforesting model that can be replicated across rural estates in the Rio Doce valley, and in other regions across the Atlantic Forest. The goal was to plant 50 million trees, thus forming green corridors and islands to serve as havens of biodiversity.
The Yves Rocher Foundation worked alongside this association from 2007 to 2009.
