Restoring the bocage for biodiversity and climate adaptation
At GAEC de La Hairie, Bruno Clavreul is a dairy cattle farmer (85 LSU) managing 69 hectares of UAA under organic farming. Certified with the Label Haie, he has a deep-rooted passion for trees. His goal is to restore the bocage landscape, which was lost due to land consolidation, to enhance biodiversity, improve animal welfare, adapt to climate change, and diversify production (wood, honey). To achieve this, he has undertaken numerous training courses to better manage hedgerows. He has also become a reference farm for the CIVAM network and has achieved Level 3 Label Haie certification.
The jury praised the consistency of Bruno Clavreul’s approach: his commitment to bocage restoration and the integration of intra-plot agroforestry enhances biodiversity, improves animal welfare, and strengthens resilience to climate change while diversifying farm production (wood, honey).
