Bioviv’art is a unique festival that combines performing arts and science to raise public awareness about biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. Founded in 2022, it takes place annually at the end of July at the Caves Ecoiffier in Alénya, in the Pyrénées-Orientales region.
Mission and Objectives
The primary mission of Bioviv’art is to engage a broad audience in biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. The festival aims to inform, inspire, and encourage action towards a world that respects all living beings. By appealing to both reason and emotions, it invites participants to reflect on their lifestyles and reduce their environmental impact.
History and Growth
Since its inception in 2022, Bioviv’art has grown significantly, with each edition focusing on a specific theme, such as living soils, water, insects, and birds. The upcoming edition, scheduled for 25–27 July 2025, will explore the theme “Reconnecting with the Wild”.
Programme and Activities
The festival offers a diverse programme, including theatre performances, dance shows, concerts, lectures, hands-on workshops, nature walks, and innovative hybrid experiences blending art and science. These activities are designed to engage a wide audience, from children to adults, fostering a dialogue between scientific experts and artists.
Partnerships and Support
Bioviv’art is supported by several organisations, including financial backing from the Yves Rocher Foundation. On certain occasions, the foundation also takes an active role in the festival.
In summary, Bioviv’art is a dynamic event that blends creativity and science to inspire a new generation of biodiversity advocates.
