Cultivating the Land with Creativity
Océane grew up in a rural area of Gers, surrounded by her parents, who were winegrowers. Their growing ecological awareness naturally influenced her path, leading her to study landscape design with one dream in mind: “I wanted to bring my creativity into the agricultural world,” she recalls. This vision quickly led her to join HAPPY CULTORS, an association that develops sustainable agricultural solutions for the community.
An educational farm open to all
In 2022, inspired by an idea suggested by local children, Océane and the association established an educational farm. After months of searching, they found the perfect location: a beautiful farmstead in Breuil Paleyrac, generously provided by the Renvoisé family, a young couple of organic market gardeners convinced by the initiative.
With the support of the collective and several local organisations, the farm quickly transformed into a lively space for learning and community life.
All Happy-Cultivators!
Three key pillars define Océane’s work: production, education, and community engagement.Sustainable food production allows for experimentation with innovative farming techniques: organic seed cultivation, a diverse syntropic orchard, eco-grazing, composting, and more.
Education takes place across seven educational gardens, welcoming schoolchildren, young adults in social care homes, and even amateur gardeners. “We want to pass on simple skills so everyone can reclaim control over their food,” Océane explains.
Community engagement thrives through festive events and hands-on projects on local farms, fostering solidarity, social connections, and a shared commitment to nature.
“As a child, I dreamt of being President. Behind that dream was already the desire to make a difference.”
The power of the collective
What drives this initiative forward? For Océane, the answer is simple: the strength of the collective. The intergenerational community brings together employees, volunteers, members, visitors -children and adults alike— united by shared projects.
Collaboration, experimentation, social connection, and biodiversity conservation are at the heart of Océane’s approach. “Everyone should be able to come here to learn and pass on their knowledge,” she says enthusiastically. And all of this happens in a spirit of celebration and joy!
