Over the years, we\u2019ve also come to realise the crucial role women play in this collective movement. And yet, these committed women face immense challenges and widespread inequality: lack of funding, lack of visibility, and lack of recognition.<\/p>\n

In the footsteps of Wangari Maathai, tireless tree planter and sponsor of the \u201cPlant for the Planet<\/strong>\u201d campaign led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)\u2026 Anne-Elisabeth in Burkina Faso, Ir\u00e8ne and Ruhama in Ethiopia, Sylvie in France, Yolanda in the Netherlands\u2026 all carry out agroforestry projects. Some are Terre de Femmes award winners, others are nurserywomen, seed keepers, farmers and herders, budding tree planters, schoolteachers, beauty advisors, or Yves Rocher employees. Their backgrounds vary, but they all share one driving force: a deep-rooted desire to take action, hands in the soil, bringing trees back to the heart of our lives\u2014and of life itself.<\/p>\n

Their fight is a collective one. There\u2019s no such thing as a small gesture. Strong, committed and inspiring, these women are shaping the land with their hands, followed by growing communities of fellow planters working alongside them.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n Planting Hedges to Save Our Countryside <\/div>\n
\n Sylvie Monier is a woman of conviction and action who dedicates her life to preserving biodiversity through agroforestry. As an agroforestry advisor, she replants hedgerows, vital living structures in our rural landscapes, essential for healthy soils, climate regulation, and wildlife protection. Co-founder of AFAC-Agroforesteries (now R\u00e9seau Haies), Sylvie works tirelessly to reconnect nature with agricultural systems. <\/div>\n \n \n

\n Reforesting Degraded Lands <\/div>\n
\n An engineer by training and the first winner of the Yves Rocher Foundation\u2019s International Award, Ruhama has been committed since 2012 to reforesting degraded land caused by deforestation in Ethiopia. Deeply concerned by this issue in her country, she works closely with reforestation programmes alongside the Green Ethiopia Foundation, a long-standing partner of the Yves Rocher Foundation. Inspired from a young age by her father, who worked in water conservation, Ruhama grew up questioning the logic behind humanity\u2019s destruction of nature. <\/div>\n \n \n

\n Madagascar \u2013 Delphine Roulet <\/div>\n
\n Protecting the Greater Bamboo Lemur <\/div>\n
\n For over 15 years, primatologist Delphine Roullet has dedicated her life to protecting the Greater Bamboo Lemur in Madagascar, an endangered species listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List. Winner of the Terre de Femmes France Award in 2016, Delphine has received ongoing support from the Yves Rocher Foundation. Through her organisation, Helpsimus, she leads a forest restoration project in collaboration with Malagasy NGO Impact Madagascar, three village associations, and the Regional Directorate for the Environment and Sustainable Development. Together, they are restoring degraded forests and creating vital ecological corridors to ensure the lemur\u2019s survival. <\/div>\n \n \n

\n India \u2013 Nivethitha <\/div>\n
\n Agroforestry Supporting Agriculture <\/div>\n
\n Nivethitha, from Tamil Nadu in India, represents a new generation of female farmers committed to sustainability and land regeneration. Alongside her father, Chinnasamy, a farmer for 65 years, she decided to transform their land after witnessing soil degradation from years of intensive banana, turmeric and sugarcane cultivation. Through Isha Foundation (a long-term partner of the Yves Rocher Foundation) they discovered the benefits of agroforestry. Initially hesitant, they chose to plant trees on their land. In five years, they\u2019ve planted 1,000 trees, transforming their farm into a lush, green sanctuary. <\/div>\n \n \n

\n Commitment at the Heart of Action <\/div>\n
\n Armelle Dablin Girardot brings commitment to life every day. As manager of Yves Rocher boutiques in Parly 2, V\u00e9lizy 2 and Rueil-Malmaison, she rallies her teams around a shared vision: combining performance, responsibility and positive impact. A recipient of the Biodiversiday Award, she supports biodiversity through her project \u201cThe Hummingbird Spirit\u201d. In 2024, she took part in the Raid Amazones in Cambodia, a sporting and solidarity challenge benefiting the Yves Rocher Foundation and its global tree-planting programme. <\/div>\n \n \n

\n Under the Trees, the Future Grows <\/div>\n
\n Manel and her mother, a Yves Rocher employee, have made a habit of planting trees together\u2014sharing more than just time in nature. During Act Beautiful Days, they join many Yves Rocher employees who, each year, take part in hands-on environmental efforts like tree planting. Organised in partnership with the Yves Rocher Foundation in France and abroad, these events enable employees to be direct contributors to the Plant for Life programme, which has already helped plant over 130 million trees. By getting their hands in the soil, Manel and her mother play a part in a powerful collective mission: restoring ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and fighting climate change. Like them, hundreds of colleagues around the world commit each year, embodying the values of engagement and transmission so dear to Yves Rocher. <\/div>\n \n \n
