Created in 1975, the Conservatoire Botanique National de Brest (Botanical Conservatory of Brest) was the world's very first site fully dedicated to the preservation of endangered plants. It carries out its mission for the preservation of endangered plants by implementing, in a complementary manner, in situ (in the natural habitat) and/or ex situ (out of the natural habitat) conservation actions. The Conservatoire Botanique National de Brest is a public joint association. It is a member of the Fédération des Conservatoires Botaniques Nationaux (Federation of National Botanical Conservatories).
The Yves Rocher Foundation has committed to the Conservatoire Botanique National de Brest for the preservation of Junipers in Haiti.
