Each year, eight hundred local school children attend the Nature Festival in the rural town of La Gacilly in Brittany’s Redon region (France). The festivities are led by a group of 50 hosts as well as 120 teachers and volunteers.
Through interesting, fun, fact-filled workshops, children discover and learn about nature’s treasures and how to preserve them.
The workshops inspire reflection and provide suggestions for positive action. Topics include plants, animals, ecological influences, sorting and recycling, environmentally-conscious consumer behavior, organic gardening, water pollution and renewable energy sources.
Creativity and discovery is promoted through the fabrication of various objects with natural materials, such as eco-scarecrows, bulrush toys, mandalas and botanical musical instruments.
